I gotta say, this was by far the best Movie I have seen this whole year; and it wasn't even made in 2014. The story, the characters, the realness of Brazil's corrupt system made Elite Squad (Tropa de elite) a timeless classic. I think it is much more thorough and better than City of God. It made me really escape into the film, and forget everything else for the remainder of the movie. And that sort of thing doesn't happen to me very often. and I hate to admit it, but I watched the sequel first not too long ago.
I don't usually give 5 stars easily to any film, but this one deserves it. 5/5 stars. Hands down my favorite movie about life in favelas in Brazil, and all the politics that go down there.
